Corporate Safety Director
Tom is responsible for promoting jobsite safety and helping ensure all company safety policies are upheld, for both Dalmatian Fire and our parent company, Shambaugh.
In addition to maintaining company-wide safety awareness, Tom oversees the development of safety professionals and materials. He also leads Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10- and 30-hour courses for internal and external customers.
Through his leadership and direction, Tom helps Dalmatian Fire achieve ongoing OSHA compliance, effective loss control, and optimum accident prevention.
Tom has been a part of Shambaugh since 1995.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University. He obtained his Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) designation in 2004, his Associate Safety Professional designation from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) in 2007, and his Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation from the BCSP in 2009.
He has completed, and remains current on, the OSHA 500 Trainer Course for Construction since 1994.
Tom maintains his expertise by attending professional events, such as the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) and the National Safety Council’s professional development conferences.
He is a member of the ASSP and the Construction Coalition for Safety. He served for four years as Chairman of the Building Contractors Association Safety Committee.
Outside of work, Tom enjoys clay sports, off-roading, hunting, fishing, and boating. He and his wife have three children and two grandchildren. On behalf of his children, Tom has also volunteered as a coach, manager, and leader.
